Today on Deviantart.com someone told me "you're not a photographer" because always I distort reality with my heavy post-processing on Photoshop. Well, I don't want to rise to the bait.. but I would like to share with you another "Before and After" to show that not always I change colors and distort reality in my shots... many times the 'base' is real, colors and light of the RAW file are similar with the final result.

Anyway, I don't know why some people hates Photoshop thinking that a 'real photo' is only a photo with a minimun photo editing... If we're talking about commercial photography I think this is true, but in artistic photos.. what's the problem?

If you want to read the explanation of my processing look at this:

When I took my commercial photos (industrial, portraits, still life, etc.) I don't use heavy post-processing, only if required by the client. But that is *work*. I don't show in Deviantart.com my commercial photos... because here I like to show my art, not my work.

If you have some question about this image please ask and I'll reply soon ;)

I have found that when it comes to my photo sales I can sell the original just fine but once I change it a little through photoshop I can sell twice as many. A great example of this is in my gallery. Colors and Colors Re-edit. The colors one did just fine, I did the re-edit for a client that has a very colorful loft. He wanted a brighter photo for a canvas print of 24inch by 36inch. Since I have placed the re-edit in my portfolio I have sold it 3 to 1 compared to the non. I guess what I am saying is that maybe we aren't "raw" photographers, but by god we are ARTISTS!!!!! Do what makes YOU happy and how YOU want to present your art, follow your heart and don't let anyone take that away!!!!

hi, what those guys do not understand is that a camera doesn't see things like we do... photography is first a matter of choice, cameras do not chose, they just record, we do choose (first when framing in the viewfinder, we do not put the camera on a table and let it do the job...) and then processing, once telling the lab the kind of process we want (or doing it ourselves in the lab transformed wardrobe :)) now in lightroom and photoshop or else
for what i remember when photography was my job in the film camera area, it was the same, even for work assignments

keep processing :)

I agree with martiansummer. Whoever told you that is a fool and pretty ignorant to boot. World famous photographer Ansel Adams used a post processing method called dodging and burning extensively in many of his landscape photos. So, I guess in this persons view, Ansel Adams wasn't a photographer either.

I think your work is amazing. It's the post processing that drew my attention to your work initially and why many of your photos are now in my favorites.

Keep up the great work. :-)
